James Whyte is a singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who’s been a well-known part of Edinburgh’s acoustic music scene for the last twenty years.
He has a great love for performing solo and can regularly be found doing just this around and beyond Edinburgh. However, nothing makes him happier than exploring/exploiting the many opportunities music can bring to collaborate with, befriend and learn from others. As such, taking part in The Orchy Sessions saw him at his sunniest and most thankful.
Whyte also helps run The Listening Room, one of Edinburgh’s longest running weekly acoustic singer/songwriter nights. He currently plays in two bands, Norman Lamont & the Heaven Sent (also featured at The Orchy Sessions) and Cuttings.
Although a seasoned and regular live performer, The Ship E.P. released on the 24th September 2015 (a “significant” birthday!) was his first formal recorded solo release.
